Rareity

Can anyone tell me if the items i just purchased are rare?

Wing Commander Deluxe Edition on CD with SM1 and SM2

Wing Commander II Deluxe Edition on CD with SO1 and SO2

You'll have to be a bit more specific -- which releases are they? Do they have their manuals/boxes/etc. in good condition? That sort of thing. The deluxe versions (especially WC2) have been released over and over and over... and some versions are rarer than others.

Both have their original boxes, thier original jewel cases, all inserts, the manuals, the WC2 janes fighting spacecraft and the WC1 fighter schematics.

I think they were released in 1995 so they are compatible with my old Win 95 ms dos mode.

Which boxes (G)? Again, they've been released a number of times -- in their original 'blue boxes', as Software Toolworks budget titles, as EA Classics and EA Classics Gold editions, as EA Silver jewel case versions, etc...

Okay, that's good -- I'd say that the Wing 1 blue box (is it the CD or one of the disk versions? -- WC1 classic was released in a number of formats) is 'rare' as 'Wing titles go. It's not going to fetch you lots of money (at least not now), but it's certainly worth holding onto.

For the Wing 2... see if the box has an 'EA' number over the bar code -- Wing 2 Deluxe was printed first independently and then again when EA took over. Also, check the color of the manual -- I've seen red ones and blue ones, and I'm interested to see what corresponds to what...

Speaking of which, there is a 3-CD set from Kilrathi Saga up on eBay, sans manuals, boxes, etc. Surely that can't be all the disks required, can it?

Nope, it isn't -- Kilrathi Saga came on 5 CDs. CD1 is the one people want, though, since it has WC1 and 2.

This feature didn't actually work so great. It pretty much made a shortcut that rebooted you in dos mode and executed the game.. You often still had to make sure your drivers and memory and stuff were okay yourself.

I have the disk version of wc1, and the deluxe cd edition of wc2 (which includes so 1 and 2, and speech paks). I also have the dos version of wc3.

However, being the minimalist that I am, I bought the Kilrathi Saga and downloaded everything else that I needed. It's just so much easier to run.

Also, I picked up a cd version of WC1 with SM1 and 2, as part of a 10 game package called the Mile-High Club. At the time, I didn't understand why my parents thought that it was going to be pornographic . . . ah, the innocence of youth.

Not me, I lost the WC3 cd's for KS and now only have CD1, anyone have any extra copies? After all if I buy on ebay I would be paying the inflated price for the cd I already have.

You don't need the KS version of WC3 -- the DOS version will run just as easily on a modern computer. Spending the stupidly inflated KS prices to get just WC3 would be silly.

well, I have the dos version but I would like to have the full set. i prob won't buy the ks version of wc3 but if I did I could then sell the entire version for a inflated price :)
