Raiders of the Lost Game (May 22, 2007)

I am PRETTY DAMN sure that we did not ever give a copy of the game out to ANYONE, especially a reviewer. Someone may have done it after I went to EAUK for Rugby, but I hope that they would have told me.

Hey, welcome to Crius.net. WC2 SNES reviews surfaced in both GamePro and EGM. They both talked about the differences compared to the PC version and used unique SNES version screenshots.

I worked at a hardware company for several years, when you get a review sample, especially if something is unique, you have to send it back after the review/testing.

Did you guys not find anything at mythic?

Went through a few other people's large collections of ROM dumps over the past few years, and atually was just going through a few "rare" files this week. WC2 for SNES is always something I look for, but has still not yet shown it's face.

Frequently you will find a file called "Wing Commander 2" - but every time it has been "The Secret Missions." Here's hoping it stillshows up, some day.

I remember reading about this and wanting it. I loved WC the Secret Missions on the SNES because I thought the scenes in the lounge and briefing room of the Tiger's Claw were cool. I know I played through it several times and taking it over to friends and showing them. I also picked up the original game for the SNES and I would have bought this if it ever came out.

Those magazine reviews look like they could have been written based on the PC version, some press releases, and just plain making-things-up. It would have been easier to get away with that kind of behavior back then, pre-internet.

I would LOVE to see an arcade-style WC2 on SNES, especially in the style of the great 3DO WC3 port. Super Star Wars is on the Wii Virtual Console today, so perhaps it's not ridiculous to wish for a WC2 release if the ROM ever turns up.

In the meantime I'm going to play the first 2 SNES games. :D

No, they don't. The screenshots are clearly not the PC version. See the Ferret with two VDUs and the color (non-green) comm VDUs, both unique elements to WC2 on the SNES.
