PTC damage

(The Fralthra seems to be attempting to cross the Concordia's T, a superior tactical situation for a warship...)

It's a superior tactical situation for a 19th century warship, and somewhat for a 20th century one -- but the impression one strongly gets from looking at the fire patterns in WC2 is that it's actually WORSE to cross the T, and instead you want the opposition to cross YOURS.

It seems like all of Concordia's guns are forward-firing, after all, so the normal benefit of crossing the T -- that you get to bring both forward and aft guns to bear while they can only bring forward weaponry, and you can rake their front deck while they can only strike your reinforced sides -- would be negated, and actually that Concordia WANTS to see the broadside of its opponent. After all, Fralthras have 100cm LESS armor on the sides...

We do know that 'crossing the T' is a naval maneuver in Wing Commander's space combat - it's mentioned in the Forstchen novels.

I don't think we really know where the guns (with the exception of the Phase Transit Cannon) are on either ship. The VDU suggests that guns dot the sides of the Concordia... and that the Fralthra has batteries fore and aft.

Well since the PTC is mounted so that it fires along the Concordia's axis, any Kilrathi commander who knows about the PTC would want to avoid having the Concordia's bow pointed directly at it.

Ok now I have to go try and find a picture because I'm fairly certain you see a pair of huge dual turrets at the end of the runway. At the bottom corners of the numbers.
