Problems? Post them here...

Thanks! I've replayed the mission where you escort the Arrows (the Exeter mission) several times, thinking it might have something to do with the bug, but the bomber mission still keeps crashing, and I'm always alone in my Arrow. I've yet to see the other three Arrow pilots show up. :p

EDIT :

Didn't you just give something away?

Whoops, I guess I did. Although flying the Arrow isn't what surprised me the most... There were a few things I found to be far more unexpected. ;)

What sim mission are you trying to play? The sim missions are exactly the same ones from Ep4, so nothing should be different.

I've passed this on to Pete so he can look into it later.

Ugh...I feel bad we weren't able to catch all these things. Although, many of them seem to be appearing for the first time with wider playing.

We will be patching in the future...so please bear with us.

I always play mission one ... I tried mission two now but the same message is displayed. Like I said it worked a few weeks ago without problems.

I have not cheated and always have installed Standoff (and all patches) when a new release was published.
If you need any other information (for example file size and or date of my installation) then please let me now.

Please send me a private message when you need more information...

Thanks

hrhr - Normally I play on Hero and that's why I stopped playing after mission 2. The missions you guys created are really cool and I don't want to waste that fun. I just needed to know if the problem is connected to this specific mission or the game in general so I needed to somehow get past that mission ;-)

Well at first I was convinced it was connected to two 2 specific missions...then Quarto discovered it happened in places we never would have suspected. It's a memory issue. Something is leaking memory and causing the game to crash. There are certainly 2 missions in Ep5 paths that crash more than most. Although, now with the game being more thoroughly played with old saved games, or from the start with all the new options, the crashes appear to be creeping into other areas.

That is very...very...very...weird. I've put it in our bugzilla. This is something I've never seen before.

Yeah it should still work now since the sim missions are exactly the same ones from Ep4. Pete knows and will be looking at it.

Hehehehe yes I bet you did.

when you first encounter squealer my game crashed when I tried to see him with the Track Camera

In the prologue? Yeah that's probably because of the way he activates/deactivates. It's a trick in order to get the appearing disappearing act.

Yeah that's the damn memory bug. Best bet...quit the game after every mission to hopefully clear the memory. That will reduce the chances of crashing.

I have a small problem. I'm betting it's my graphics card. When I turn on Enhanced (or Advanced, I forget! :p) Lighting, you can't see ships or anything in flight mode. IIRC, you only see the HUD (shields, radar) and Stars.

In old videocards you can't use both Antialiasing and HDR at the same time. Use one or another, if you use both then that happens

And the third mission of episode 1 either freezes up or gives me a CTD when I'm in combat with the pirates.

That also happened to me. It happened when I was close to an explosion. I did put antialiasing off and put HDR instead and I had no problems after that.

Anyway besides the obvious bugs here and there, nice work with this release. I have started from the beggining so it would be a while until I see new things, but for now what has been added to the first episode is great, and the graphics are just great :)

Uh guys the game crashes no matter what mission it is. Currently I am at the Hakaga mission and even after a restart of the game it crashes towards the end. Hopefully I'll make to the end of the mission before it crashes again, so I can continue on and get to episode 5.

Yeah we've discovered the memory bug is pretty much all over. During Ep5 testing it was centralized in two missions. However, in the full package it seems to like to creep in all over.

That bug is actually getting quite annoying :)

I don't know anyone else but it usually happens to me when a target explodes :/ (on the other hand, there are usually a lot of explosions in all the missions so maybe is not related at all).

I can also confirm that the memory bug doesn't have to happen at all if you play two missions consecutively.

Was just playing mission 2 of episode 1, after having loaded it up fresh today, and it crashed at the end just as I was about to land. Cry! :).

I'm sure you all will get it touched up soon though. I'm really enjoying what I've replayed of episode 1, all the enhancements and additions are splendid.

Hey there people!
Firstly, I would like to compliment you all on making such a great and wonderful game! Stunning graphics, sound and gameplay! Very challenging! ^_^
But then....I also have a crash and I cant get passed it.
On mission 2 "Search & Rescue" to be exact, my game starts up smoothly but as soon as I jump through to the other system and my ship appears in the cutscene my game crashes.
I don't know if the problem signature can help perhaps: (and I'm running Vista....many would say thats the problem! :-P )

I believe so. The guys are pretty sure it's in one of the DLLs. It appeared a few weeks prior to release and at first (because we were only getting crashes in 2 missions) that it was something related there. Then we kept investigating and investigating. Right now it's trying to find the exact culprit.

As for more than that Pete or Quarto would have to explain.

Well for a good mission to test with, play the rapier on the first hakaga mission (episode 4). I presume you guys are trying to find the dll by using older versions of a dll each in turn to find the culprit; or are all of the dlls so interlinked that old versions of a one dll aren't compatible with current versions of other dlls.

We already have two missions in Ep5 where the crash occurs almost without fail (unless a few certain things are done).

But tonight after I get home, I'm pretty sure Pete and I will be testing DLLs for quite a while.

Hope you find the problem soon, I barely made it through the Hakaga mission and only after I tuned down the resolution.
