The "j" button doesn't seem to initiate the jump to other stars. I also tried alt+j and ctrl+j. Does anyone know how to fix this problem.

anyway experience the game just stop running once you try and jump?

This happens because the game is generating flightgroups and collide trees for the new system -- it's normal. What we should do is have a mini-cutscene like in Priv playing in the foreground, and crunch those numbers in the meantime.
