ok i downloaded the latest video card drivers my first try
that fixed my grphical problem but i still dont get to play...

when it boots i get a black screen then it kicks me out to desktop...

after a few minutes of waiting sound kicks in for intro...

beyound that it still wont do anything

what's the last 10 lines of stderr.txt say

try turning off texture_compression in vegastrike.config
 
Solved the problem: for interested parties: he didn't have ATI's proper openGL driver
uninstalling and reinstalling the Display driver fixed it up
