I've searched the form and read the threads on this issue that I could find, but the fixes are not working for me. Any time a movie could be played I'm in danger of getting the Privateer 2 Fatal Error - setstreamspeed - D:\movies\{insert name of movie here}.tgv FILE IS TOO SMALL TO ESTIMATE DATA STREAM SPEED error. I get through most of them by turning the video transitions off. I always save before a movie and if it crashes, I try again I usually get through it by a half dozen times. I need to watch the movie a Cygnus Labs and I cannot get past the error. I"m running Dos Box .73, using the DOS version of the game and CDs. I've installed the patch and I"m at a loss. I played through the game some time last year (having the same issues but I did not get this stuck) and now I cannot remember how I did it. Does anyone know how to get rid of this or have some other suggestions to try?

Have you tried different versions of Dosbox? also, are you using the alternate CD-rom switch when mounting the CD drive? I know I can't play the game *at all* without the -ioctl switch (mount d: d:\ -t cdrom -ioctl) in use.

Also the P2 patch should get rid of the setstream error: http://download.wcnews.com/files/p2/p2patch.exe

I had the p2 Patch installed and I have been using mount d: d:\ -t cdrom -ioctl
although the last time I played the game I didn't I still get the setstream error. I just flew the Bill Madox mission, escorting the mil memorabilia from bex to Anhur. I got the error once in the first movie, but I loaded a saved have and was good from then on,

    Any other ideas?

I can't think of anything too specific, but just a thought... what did you choose for soundcard settings? What happens when you pick something like SB pro instead of SB16 or AWE or whatever? Are you using a built-in soundcard?

I know I have Dos Box set to a SB16 and I'm sure I set Privateer to match. I re-installed the patch and the last 3 movies I played when through on the first try. I'm going to fly back to the lab and try again, and if that doesn't work, give the sound card settings a try. I am using the sound card built into my motherboard.
