NMS Corvettes

Shaggy

Vice Admiral
For those that don't know No Man's Sky just added the ability to build custom corvettes in the game.
So what was the first thing I did? I built a Venture class and then a Kamrani.
I took some artistic license with the Venture, because even the blueprint images out there are kind of simple, and the Kamrani runs right up to the complexity limit in the game, so I couldn't dress it up with antennae or other little greebles and the angular shape makes it hard to plug gaps with the parts available.
I haven't fully dressed out the insides yet, I'm working on maxing out the Venture first, then I'll focus on the Kamrani.
My next build might be a Thunderbolt but so far you can't store corvettes in the games "deep freeze" so they take up spots in your active ships, which makes it less efficient to scrap ships, which has been the fastest way to get storage augmentations for me.

Awesome! I really need to dive back into NMS at some point, they've added so much cool stuff since I last played.

Honestly the only thing stopping me is that I prefer coop multiplayer, and organising people is a pain. :p

On the Venture, I've flipped the leading edge wing cowlings around to the back, to give it more of of a game accurate look, and moved the boarding ramp to the back more for convenience than anything else and given it more of a proper nose. I've dressed out the inside and I think I'm getting close to max storage.
On both, the Kamrani in particular, I found that you can use almost all of the base building parts on the outside as well as the inside and it doesn't count against your complexity limit, so I can dress it up a little more despite the limit.
I don't think I'll use that to try and make these as absolutely accurate as possible because I built both of these in kind of the traditional way the game intends, salvaging or trading for the parts I needed, and I'm kind of proud of that.
If you guys want to see more let me know and I'll get more shots.

Here's a shot of the galley to the bridge on the Venture as well as a shot of it parked above CNS Alexandria, my floating base on my home planet. I have a shot of the cargo bay but it's not that interesting. The Venture is also a very narrow ship, compared to the Kamrani, so there wasn't a lot of space to work with room wise.

I don't have any programs to capture in game video, I could look into, but can post a video directly to thread like I can with images?
The Venture is pretty simple, a ramp into a cargo bay, and then stairs up to main living\operating area that leads to the cockpit.
The Kamrani has a lot more space but it's not decorated yet. I'm still figuring out positions for living spaces, infirmary, cargo bay, greenhouse, there's loads more space to work with on it.

Well the game glitched and I sort of lost the Venture.
I had just picked up a new space whale when the game CTD and when I brought it back up the corvette in the Venture's spot was the most basic sort of default ship. It's still got all its cargo and tech modules intact but otherwise it has to be completely rebuilt.
Maybe it's a blessing in disguise. At least I'm not starting from zero.

It's crazy how much the NMS guys were able to turn their game around. Rough launch aside it's obvious the game is a genuine labour of love.

Yeah I really respect Hello Games for what they did with it and for the fans.
Last night I went back in and started tinkering with it and got lost in just rebuilding it, luckily I have a pretty big stock of salvaged parts in the cache, and now I made it a bit bigger and changed a few things, so now there is a bit of a bunk room. All that's left now is to reinstall things like storage locker access and refiners and such.
It's still smaller than the Kam so it really is going to much more of a fighter than a capship and, since I didn't lose my tech modules, it will meltdown anything I come against very quickly.

I did a video, through the Steam recorder, and uploaded it to Rumble.
I probably went through the Venture a little quick but I also fly out to my home base Alexandria and roam around there a bit, though I forgot to go down to the lounge area.
Let's see if this link works:
