Microsoft announced a major new hardware revision of the Xbox 360 today at the 2010 Electronics Entertainment Expo. The slim XBox 360 250 GB console also includes 802.11n wifi for $299 in the US. As of last week, that same price point got you an XBox 360 Elite with a 120 GB hard drive that required a separate $80 wifi adapter. Old XBox systems in stores will receive a $50 price cut, so the hard drive-less Arcade unit can be found for as little as $150. The new XBox should be available in stores this week! If you held off on a 360 purchase before, now's the time to act! Then get your Wing Commander Arena on for only $10.

Electronic Arts is also announcing a slate of new titles today. Highlights include Dead Space 2, Medal of Honor, Monopoloy Streets and EA Sports Active 2, which supports the Project Natal/Kinect controllerless input system.

Nice, just from looking at it it appears that they addressed some of the major flaws in cooling and hopefully there will be no more RROD. I have the XBOX360 Elite and I still need to keep a big house fan pointed into the vents to run games like FABLE2 for any length of time or else it will freeze.

Yes! After five years of waiting, it's finally time to take the plunge.

Yeah, this is a really good deal for a really good system.

Many of the cooling issues have been incrementally addressed by several major internal revisions over the years. Fans and sinks only take you so far, and the biggest thing is that the system just uses less power and generates less heat now. The slim box is also supposed to be a bunch quieter.

My 360 got the RROD two years ago and I haven't had any issues since the repair. I have to delete things from the tiny hard drive all the time and the cooling sounds like an airplane taking off. Without HDMI I'm also stuck using the composite to VGA cable. The vsync problems with some games are really starting to tear at me. I might get this new model.

I will certainly upgrade to the new model, but I think I might wait to see if there's a nice bundle with the Kinect in November.

I'll definitely be looking for a kinect bundle. The 20GB drive is feeling really small, and I could use the HDMI as well. Thankfully we can use memmory cards to expand the harddrive in the meantime now.
