You can try getting Wing Commander and Secret Missions (Thor's Hammer) on the Super Nintendo if you can live with a few minor changes.

it was difficult for me to control my ship in the SNES version, to many button combos, i played the first mission and hung it up.

My greatest problem when playing the SNES version of WC was the distance perception. One second, the enemy fighter looks like a distant point in the horizon. Then, I afterburn after it, and, all of a sudden, it becomes a BIG ship, right in front of my nose, at optimal distance for frequent accidental rammings...

I hardly got back to the carrier with my nose intact in that game...

Wow, I never ran into this many problems with my SNES versions of WC.
Of course now that my SNES console is on the fritz I've found that playing the ROM versions, with SNES 9x, is actually kind of cool.
I use the keyboard, with the A S D Z X & C keys for the standard button layout and the arrow keys for the crosspad. But the cool thing is mapping a button for rapid fire on your guns. You take a Raptor out on a mission, with a setup like this, you can actually fire at full guns longer, on the rapid fire, than you can shooting with the regular button. It's like the rapid fire commands come so fast that the game loses track of the energy consumption for a moment.
I have yet to run into a single fighter that doesn't crumple immediately under that kind of barrage.;)

The only problem I had with the SNES version, was alot of the dialog was messed up. Sometimes a whole line was blank in the middle of a paragraph. And when dealing with aces, their taunts always were from the wrong ace.

example: Going after Kajja, and getting the taunts from Baktosh Redclaw.
