Lost Ship of the Day: WC3 Caernaven (August 28, 2006)

Although Victory Streak gives 'frigate' specifications, they do not appear in Wing Commander III. The frigate, first seen by fans in Union colors in the WC4 Demo, was actually designed for the previous game! Check out the screenshots below for a view of a different looking Caernaven-class frigate. Strangely enough, WC3 actually calls for a frigate at one point. Paladin arrives on the Victory aboard one -- but it's just a standard destroyer renamed!

Well, so this is a missilie-frigate... the idea is not bad...

Maybe he mistook some of the parts for missile racks?

The two "things" on the rear of that ship and the other two on the side of the hull - that are clearly no laserturrets.

I count 2 turrets on the front (upper and lower side) and at least 4 other weaponsmounts.

They do kind of look like rocket launchers in the first picture

Hm... the WC4 Borderworldversion was differend. It has 4 laserturrets and only 2 of these launchers, and there were fixed on the sides of that ship.

Or am I wrong?

What did the Pirate Frigate in WC 4 look like? Any diffrent from the BWU ships?

Different textures, IIRC.

Here's the WC4 variants. The design is different, in that the missile turrets are on the sides instead of on the top/bottom.
