Just curious, around how many polygons can engines do these days? How many can Vision hold?

I am not sure, but I think you will never see, in a game, more than 5000-7000 faces simultaneously.
For instance there is a fighter designed for gaming provided in 3DS Max 3 tutorials and it only have 512 faces... But it was released two years ago.
Now with T&L, which handle a lot more faces, things may have chaged (or will change soon). For instance I have got a Geforce2 and I have a reasonable frame rate (around 15-20 fps) while displaying 60K face models in opengl. It is 5 times faster than with my old tnt2 ! :)

I think that to have a better answer, we should ask to the ones who are making games or low-poly fighters like Darkmage or Eder.
