Kilrathi Dreadnought WCATV Carrier

Seventh Part of the Seal
I was just wondering if there was any connection between these ships, like the WC3 Dreadnought was a modified version of the WCATV Carrier...

Nope, and not for lack of a chance to make such a connection - Star*Soldier mentions that the "Dorkar transport, Kamar blockade runner, Ralar destroyer and Naukar carrier all use the same hull" design. The fact that they didn't include the Hvarr Kann suggests to me that it's a separate ship...

I think it's still a case of similar design philosophy, though certainly with the dreadnought being much larger than the carrier, there is simply no way one is just a modified version of the other.

On a much smaller scale, the F/A-18 Hornet and the F/A-18E/F Super Hornet look identical to the untrained eye, but the Super Hornet is actually a completely new design that takes design cues from the Hornet.

I completely agree. I get into arguments with some of my esteemed colleagues all the time when they mistakenly label an F-35 an F-22. I mean, OK, clearly they resemble one another and share a similar design philosophy (and partially overlapping mission) but c'mon...they don't look THAT much alike?!? :D
