Is this a Major Edmond cameo?

In Standoff, if you request the Concordia's damage status, a blonde lady pops up on the VDU and informs you of their state - is this Major Edmond of WC2? The Comm. Officer on the Concordia?

Also, very much liking the Stingray appearance, a nice little touch that he's "Major" Wright now, and seems a little calmer and leader-like.

Loving every minute of Standoff by the way, it's great to see the various generations of fighters coming up against each other - much more realistic I think with regard to how the war would take place. Just because Rapiers aren't seen in WCIII there's no reason Confed wouldn't still be using them, same could be said for so many ships.

Can't wait for the conclusion, to the powers that be, I beg you to give some mission-time to some more confed fighters like the ones you can use in the simulator! Esp. Arrow & Raptor :D
 
Yep, that's supposed to be Major Edmond. We intentionally made her cameo low-key (i.e., no one ever says "hey, that's Major Edmond!" because... well, nobody outside of the Concordia's crew would know who she is), but that certainly is our intention.

Stingray worked out really great, too. In my personal opinion, he's one of our most successful casting choices - he and Reismann are two characters that just plain sound exactly the way they should, in every single line of dialogue.
 
It's an excellent little touch, something that the vet gamers will like. Stingray is a cool character, always liked him in WC2 and certainly good casting.

*Prays for Doomsday next* ;) Although you don't want to over-do it with Cameos I'd guess, the occasional little reference is cool though.

Aye, my mouth dropped when I heard, "This is Major Wright from the Concordia." Awesome stuff, especially Tolwyn's brief cameo

Same with me and Maj. Edmond... although she sounded too much like a computer. "no... significant... damage... to... report..."

The one that sent shivers down my spine was Tolwyn.

Perhaps she's well spoken and professional, the original Major Edmond always seemed to have a very conservative American accent.

The one that sent shivers down my spine was Tolwyn.

Yeah but what a buzz, having the commander in chief wish you 'good hunting' before a blowout dogfight. As a fellow Brit I've always quite liked the old man.

On the subject of Concordia, anybody know what's supposed to have happened to Maj. Edmond following the destruction, I take it she went down with the rest of them?
 
As far as the canon is concerned (after all, Standoff is not canon), we don't even know if Major Edmond was on the Concordia at this point. Officers don't stay on one ship forever, it's quite possible that she was transferred off or promoted before Standoff.

You don't know do you? They actually got Tolwyn's voice actor from WC2 to play the part!

It seems like Eisen had assignments between tours on the Victory:

Eisen smiled easily. "I'm used to it by now, Colonel, believe me. She doesn't look like much, I'll grant you that. But I was communications officer on Victory's maiden voyage, my first assignment out of the Academy. I've been with her many times throughout my career, and I guess I'm just a little bit protective about the old girl after all."

That happens now occasionally. An officer was assigned to my last squadron three time in his career; first as an enlisted sailor, then as an F-14 RIO, and most recently as an F-18 WSO. I've known other sailors who jumped back and forth between two or three commands throughout their career; I guess you get attached to one place, even though the people change.
 
I thought the Major Edmond cameo was great. Another nice little touch - I request status from most of the capital ships just because I find the voice acting entertaining (yay for varied accents!) and seeing Major Edmond again for the first time in about 15 years = awesome.

True, but I always believed that she died on the Concordia. Tolwyn liked to keep his best people close. That seemed to be her reputation in WC2.

My logic is if she was still alive, wouldn't she have been assigned to the Victory carrier group?

Your logic contains a very deep flaw. If Tolwyn wanted to keep Major Edmond close, she might have ended up on the Victory... but what would she be doing on the Concordia at the time the ship was destroyed? The Armada manual tells us the Concordia by this point had been assigned indefinitely to patrols in safer sectors - it certainly wasn't Tolwyn's flagship by this time (as can be also deduced from the fact that... you know... he didn't die with the ship), so if Tolwyn indeed wanted to keep somebody close to him, this person wouldn't be on the Concordia.

Besides that, Major Edmond is just a comm officer - she's so easily replaceable, that there's no reason whatsoever for Tolwyn to regard her as special in any way.
 
A little Standoff glitch while we're on the subject of status updates:

In the Chapter 1 mission where the Lionheart, moves in on the Pirate Base - try asking one of the Marine Landing shuttles for a status report... you get a sound clip straight out of Prophecy, and it's a bit irrelevant!

Bradshaw: "What's your status?"
Marine LC: "I've got his Signal ID, but it's pretty weak, stand by!"

I think that sound clip is from the SAR mission of Maniac's wingman mid-way through Prophecy. Made me smile to hear it again. :D
