In-game ranks

I believe that, once before, we had the discussion that, in current military terms, what we often refer to as a "wing" would be referred to as an "element". In the games, you are always the Element Commander. In WC3, you are the Wing Commander, as well. And in WC4. In WCP, Stilletto is intoduced to you as the Squadron Commander of the Diamondback Squadron. But you still command your element, or "wing".

Once again I'm at a loss for never having read the books. But one thing I really wonder about, is just what the heck does being a Space Martial entail? In the WC Confederation, it seemed being an admiral was pretty much as high as it gets. So I pictured a Space Martial just exercising all the power he wanted to without any consent.

I think that Space Marshal is a semi-honorary rank similar to the five-star General in the US Army--you tend to only have a couple (or even just one) at a time. Basically it's given when they really want to give a promotion to somebody who is already at the highest normal rank.

That's a Aces Club thing, based on the 'Space Marshalls command sectors or larger' from Victory Streak. We've never actually seen more than one Space Marshal, and she was in charge of the navy (Gregarov)... a job held by an Admiral for most of the rest of the timeline.

(They answer to the JCS and the President, just like anyone else.)

Probably like Eike was Supreme Commander... It is probably a way to insure that the person out-ranks EVERYONE else in the service. Of course, there is always the pres and the JCS.

Do we ever hear much about the poltical structure of the Confederation? Is it still the President and 100 senators? Do they still have a House of Representatives? It would be interesting to note...

I doubt there would be only 100 senators. Isn't the President the President of the Confederation, not just the United States? If I am right, then that would mean that on the senate has EVERY planet in the Confederation, not just Earth or just the States.

That's why the Assembly Hall was filled with lots and lots of people. Some who were wearing Civil War Confederate uniform parts, or a USMC officer coat, or whatever happened to be lying around the costume department. :D

watching the intro in the DVD version is quite funny. there are about 20 insanelly cheery people and a very poor matte panel... It is hilarious.

I would assume that the Senate has one representative from every "Home" planet (i.e. planets that are members of the Confederation and not merely sparsely inhabited colonies), and possibly two or more for each of the really heavily populated worlds.

Yes they do LOAF. Except for dress uniforms, naval officers wear the standard insignia (Silver Bar, Gold Oak Leaf) etc for their normal brown duty uniforms. Normally worn on the collar

That wasn't your claim, though (G) Comissioned officer grades wear the same (well, similar) insignias... but no one else does. Enlisted and warrant officer insignia varies significantly between the services.

And all of them shout and wave furiously. Even though they use mics, they can't help but to scream.

Well, for starters, you were not at the Senate :)
They're not making music... they're making laws and stuff. It is kinda easier to do so without all the screaming. I guess.

Now that was a wise man!
