After going to lunch today and getting a club sandwich without bacon on it, I wrote this petition and am trying to collect 500 signatures before I send it in. Please read it and sign at the bottom.
Dear Mr. Fred DeLuca and Mr. Jared S. Fogle,
We are the "Put Bacon on the Subway Club®" ("PBOTSC") Team. We are writing on behalf of the sandwich eating community, to request that the SUBWAY® restaurant chain to start putting bacon on the Subway Club® sandwich.
Attached, you will find a list of over 500 sandwich fans who support our request. Of course, we know that putting bacon on a sandwich is not something that SUBWAY®, or any other respectable sandwich maker, would undertake lightly. However, we feel that doing so would be beneficial for both the fan community and for SUBWAY®.
Above all else, please note that we are not asking SUBWAY® to give up the delicious SUBWAY® Restaurant franchise or the existing SUBWAY® sandwiches, including not only the Subway Club®, but also the Select Sandwiches menu, the Classic Sandwiches menu, the number of scrumptious salads and wonderful wraps, and of course the 7 Under 6 Sandwiches menu, which focuses on fat people trying to lose weight. Because the bacon would be released on the Subway Club®, the use of any sandwich would be limited to those who already paid for the existing Subway Club® sandwich. Thus, putting bacon on the Subway Club® would not increase piracy of existing SUBWAY® sandwiches.
There are many ways in which SUBWAY® could benefit by putting bacon on the Subway Club®. Foremost is the fact that doing so would demonstrate that SUBWAY® still values this sandwich franchise and the fans of the Subway Club®. At this stage, many fans are very much disappointed with the lack of bacon in the Subway Club®, which with SUBWAY®'s otherwise flawless record is also the final blow against the restaurant chain. By putting bacon on the Subway Club®, SUBWAY® would certainly alleviate the disappointment and restore the consumers' loyalty. At this stage, this is completely irrelevant for SUBWAY® - however, should your company decide at some point to create a new sandwich with bacon on it, the fans' loyalty will certainly become relevant.
Another beneficial effect - and one usually not considered when a restaurant is contemplating putting bacon on a sandwich - is that this would also help SUBWAY® find potential employees. This is because the bacon would enable the many sandwich eaters across the world to show off their bacon skills, whether they be at eating bacon or doing something else with bacon. SUBWAY® would merely have to watch for the especially bacon-skilled fans. This may sound ridiculous at first - however, it stops sounding ridiculous when you consider that some people like bacon a lot and will eat lots and lots of bacon. We here at PBOTSC have no doubts whatsoever that there are many club sandwich fans that are very talented and capable at doing things with bacon who would be invaluable additions to the SUBWAY® team.
Also, please note that it is inevitable that some of the fans would at least attempt to create a new sandwich that also has bacon on it - most likely some sort of chicken and bacon combination. In doing so, they would therefore encounter - and in many cases, solve - many of the problems that SUBWAY® might one day face if it decides to create a new sandwich that has bacon on it. Thus, the fans themselves would be able to help SUBWAY® with these sandwiches later on. For SUBWAY®, this would mean a significant reduction in production costs and time. By putting bacon on the Subway Club®, SUBWAY® could save large amounts of money in the future with virtually no cost today.
Putting bacon on the Subway Club® would give SUBWAY® a chance to see how much support the Subway Club® franchise carries (aside from the undoubtedly huge amount of data that the company already receives by simply looking at their sales data.) We do not know if SUBWAY® has any plans in the future for a new sandwich with bacon on it (we hope so, but we're just fans of bacon), but this would be an effective way of conducting market research on sandwiches with bacon on them. Putting bacon on the Subway Club® would also help immensely in maintaining the current Subway Club® fan community, and thus improving sales of any future sandwiches that have bacon on them.
Finally, please note that putting bacon on the Subway Club® would not in any way negatively effect the sales of any future sandwiches with bacon on them made by SUBWAY®. Any new Subway Club® sandwiches with bacon would have to be non-profit, just as other sandwiches are. Also, if there are any other conditions which SUBWAY® would set for putting bacon on the Subway Club®, the sandwich and bacon fan community would be more than happy to honor them.
You will notice that the only sandwich we want bacon on is the Subway Club®. This is because when you go into a sandwich restaurant and see an item on the menu called a Subway Club®, you would expect that there would be bacon on it, since bacon is pretty much a standard ingredient on club sandwiches. We know that for your company, it is the newer sandwiches that remain important because their ingredients (hopefully including bacon) could still be improved upon and used in a new sandwich with bacon. For the fan community, bacon is important. This means that while we'd be overjoyed to get bacon on every SUBWAY® sandwich, we will be just as happy to just get bacon on the Subway Club®.
Thank you for your attention. We are looking forward to your reply, and very much hoping that it will be a positive one.
Sincerely yours,
The PBOTSC Team

. I don't think a petition full, of I don't eat there but, I'm signing signitures will be all that convincing. The really funny thing is this petition seems to be written in a more convincing manner.
