I Love WC IV

But doesn't Hawk say : "Good night Admiral." ?

Everyone has their own opinions, but I really think WC4 has a bit too much FMV relative to gameplay. I think WC3 hit the balance better - disregarding film quality, of course.

All the WC's were good in their own special way.
They need to re-visit WC1 and 2 tho :)
I'd LOVE a newer version of the old games.
Even with the same missions :)

And who is going to do that? Certainly not Origin. I'd expect recreating old missions is kinda low on the list of priorities for fan projects too.

Hawk calls him admiral in the end, I remember that for sure.
And I think it'd be nice to re-visit WC1 and 2... Chris Roberts has always expressed deep feelings for those two classics and would love to re-visit them.

Blair may have become an Admiral (both he and Hawk were wearing Confed navy uniforms), but keep in mind that that ending was not the 'official' one. He became a flight instructor, and was later promoted to Brigadier General, becoming a Commodore in the transfer to Navy R&D.

True...why would Blair be a general? He's in the navy, right? Just makes the ending to the novel even harder to believe.

He was in the Space Force where General is the equivalent rank of Admiral. Its really easy to switch between the two. He became Navy (and therefore a Commodore) to oversee the Midway project.

Can someone please inform me of the solution to the entire Geoff Tolwyn muckup?

I mean, he was a Wildcat pilot, and yet, an ensign... And there was talk about Liutenant Commander... Is there naval aviation in WC? And why would they be so stupid to distinguish the two, if BOTH Navy and SF fighters are based mostly on carriers?!

At least early on in the war there was naval aviation -- Tolwyn was an ensign and a fighter pilot (although he wasn't technically a fighter pilot -- he hadn't gone to advanced training yet... but he did fly a fighter at McAuliffe, and then took over a frigate as a lieutenant).

I just have a hard time believing some of these things...

Like, does Confed have an Army? Even though I agree it is totally unneccesary by the standards of space warfare, how did it happen in the first place? Imagine someone walking up to the US Army and saying, "OK, guys, we have a choice. Either You're all sacked or You're all Marines."

By the way, I never understood the concept of Marines for anything but ship boarding either... I mean a battle, like Circe of Repleetah would mean that both sides have an unobstructed line of supply... Which means transports from BOTH sides are arriving at the same planet... which means neither side has control of the system. So, my question, why land troops if You're not in control of the stars above them?

Confed does have an Army, it's mentioned in passing.

Marines are generally for amphibious assaults -- a side will launch an attack that'll take space and land a beachhead of marines. It's a big help if space superiority is maintained -- but it can be lost quickly...

Repleetah was a special case -- both sides landed their marines and then gave up fighting in space. So the source of marines just continued to go down until everyone was killed years later...

Really? Where is it mentioned? I just can't recall seeing it, but it would make the whole deal make a lot more sense...

And, yeah, I know about the amph assaults and such, I was just stating that in a universe such as WCU, full scale planetary combat would be extremely rare, and so where's the need for an Army? The Marines were created to board ships and conduct amphibious landings, that's their MO!

Fleet Action, when they're describing the different service insignias, army is mentioned (Gold star of the Army).

I suppose the Confed Army would be a static force deployed to planets for defensive purposes...
