I got an idea and a couple questions

Was Wing Commander Academy ever available on VHS or DVD?
I've been wondering about that for sometime. I thought I had read something like it had been released in a box set but that was way back when the series first ended its run.
Also does anyone know where I can get some good quality sound files from WC3-Prophecy ( mainly bites from the movie files and taunts).
Thanks!:D

It's "availabe" for "DVD" for the people who download the MPEGs and burn them into SVCDs or DVDs.

I was kind of looking for the possibility of purchasing it.
And what of the sound bites? Any ideas?

As soon as I can figure out a method for distributing WCA DVDs, you'll have them. Come to Dragon*Con, I might do up a mess of them for that.

Or with those interested who have a high-speed connection, you could give an ftp site and a time slot from which they could be downloaded. It would take a little extra, non-essential work on your part, so I'm guessing the answer is no :D .

Yeah, because we all know the guys who set up wcnews aren't int non-essential work :P

Seriously, though, such an FTP site would cost a lot of money (huge files + many downloads)... which is why I can't do that.

I'm working on a server currently. Admittedly, it's only on a P2 but once I get a scuzzi card, I'll have access to a 4 tray CD-Tower, plus the HD and CD-ROM already planted in the system. If this all works out, and I get another router, I'd be more than happy to host the MPEGs. Just out of curiosity, whats their size, generally?

You have some magical system where you don't need to pay for large amounts of bandwidth?

You could always try Kazaa.:)
Sure it would take forever for a dial up to download something that's 50 meg or up. But at least it's infinitely resumeable. (So long as somebody online has the file)

A lot of universities will kill you for sending even one season of our current divx WCAs..

I'd do it from home, not my university job. I'll see what I can do.
