How can I make friends?

OK, so most of them are warm to cool towards me. The Kilrathi and Pirates hate me!
How do you bring those numbers up?

I'm just not feeling the love....

Kill their enemies (mostly confed). Good luck making a living afterwards though...

Who's love do you want to feel?

Random killings of retros and pirates will get you friends with everyone but these two factions, for instance.

Use comm option 3 to very slowly increase your faction rating.

Also killing retros seems to help a lot. Everyone except Kilrathi and retros like me. I basically just tried to kill Retros only, and the Pirates eventually liked me.
I haven't had to kill any Confeds or Militia. This worked for me in the original game as well.

Hang around Oxford and Valhala, There seem to be plenty of retros around those systems and their neighbors.
