Getting the Sidewinder Force Feedback 2 to work properly in Wing Commander Prophecy?

For some reason, my Microsoft Sidewinder Force Feedback 2 won't firm up when playing Wing Commander Prophecy (or X-Wing Alliance, for that matter.) I've confirmed that the joystick does in fact function properly... it's just not fuctioning properly in somewhat older games. Am I fooked, or can the FF2 be made to work properly with these somewhat older games?

Does WCP even have Force Feedback control?

I assume you have the joystick's drivers downloaded.. As for XWA, if I recall correctly, you have to activate FF in the in-game menus.

No WC game did ever support FF effects. Not unless there is some sort of emulaton that comes with the stick itself ( CH Force FX has this for example)
