Games

I dunno... I was disappointed with the user interface in D2000, but that's just my usual complaint about the C&C-style interface. Other than that, though, I didn't think there was really anything that made D2000 stand out either as a bad game or a good game.

As for Emperor, I probably won't bother getting it... but that's not because I think the game will be bad. It's just that I'm not the Dune fanatic I used to be ;).
 
I think Dune2000 had no Dune atmosphere, it was made too command&conquerish, my biggest disappointment was, that the "Troopers" were now just like the rocket infantry in the C&C serie, not the superior Harkonnen infantry it used to be in Dune2. And although they made the game almost exactly like C&C, they did not put in those short movies after each mission, but only a moderate intro and a ridiculous short outro.
Of course, that's only my personal, subjective opinion.

Plus, I bought the German version, which is very annoying, but that was my own fault.
 
Yup... I remember the long days (and nights? :) ) spent on that game... eh eh...
If I look at its graphics now, I nearly have to throw up... <G>

My first RTS was Command&Conquer though, oddly enough... but hell, was that a hell of a game, especially in multiplayer!! :D

But Emperor Battle for Dune does not seem bad at all... the 3D looks very nice!

I can't wait for that game to come out! after you buy it, you can go to a site and download three additional units :)
 
I just looked at the Emperor info. I fear it is also just another C&C clone, in respect to units and structures. All of a sudden Harkonnen uses flamethrowers, their troopers seem to be just rocket infantry and the Palace weapons are very strange. I would have liked if they kept the old Dune2 units and then added a few more house specific units. Now I fear that the sides will be more unbalanced.
But of course it would be wrong to judge now and I am quite sure I'll buy the game nevertheless.
 
Not all the units was ripped from Dune2 (apc,jets,etc)

The siege tank was a wonderfull killing machine in dune2, but in Dune2000, it only performs well against infantry and has light armor.
 
Well, I play JK,MOTS, StarCraft, ST Elite Force, ST Birth of the Federation, and a loooooong list of others.

For thoses talking about their first gaming experience, mine would have to be Time Pilot and Space Invader, by Colecovision. :D My two fav of the time.
 
my first PC gaming experience, IF I remember correctly, was C&C Red Alert... my first TV entertainment system was Super Mario/Duck Hunt :)
 
The first game I got when i got my first PC was WC2 deluxe. Though i wanted Mechwarrior2 at the time. Sometimes things work out for the best.
