English Manuals

Edfilho

Cry some more!
Greetings,
Most of my WC games are the original american or brit editions. But the two later games (WCP and Priv2) were published in Brazil, so I bought the local version. It happens that the localized manuals in portuguese are not very good (WCP) or outright CRAP (p2). Mistakes and literall translations abound, and they didn't get one legend for the pictures right. I wonder if anyone has PDF or any digital version of these manuals IN ENGLISH, so that I can enjoy their contents without shuddering?

I hav some large (~many megabyte .bmp files) scans of the British P2 manuals at home. (The British version has a different manual than the US one).

Heck, there's a solid P2/Rest-of-WC connection that we only know about because of the subtitled Spanish Privateer 2... :)

These scans can be arranged, I can also scan the brazilian CDs and boxes... No problems there =)

But the games themselves are exactly the same as the american counterparts, no changes were made to a single line of code: No subtitles, no new voice-overs... Which is a blessing, IMO. Everygame dubbed in portuguese sucks, because the voice acting is crap. The sad thing is that we have trully excelent voice-actors in brazil (all foreign movies and series on regular non-cable TV are dubbed), but they didn't hire those for games. Max Payne was so bad that the american publisher ordered the local branch to re-issue the game in english. The one notable exception I remember is Grim Fandango.

The manuals MUST be translated, though, by demand of the law. Problem is, a few local companies just ran the originals trough machine translation and published it WITHOUT revising. The worst manual ever is Icewind Dale's, which has become almost a collectros item, it's so bad it's funny. Most sentences make no sense...

Anyways aren't there any Classic PDF versions of Priv2 and WCP manuals? Pretty please?

Beats trying to guess what the originals meant in the first place =)
Probably BMPs compress very well when zipped...

It is a shame that replacementdocs is offline. They had both manuals. Didn't anybody here donwload those in that site?

I have that in portuguese... That's precisely what I'm asking in this thread :)
It's probably cooler in english.

I've got Armada and WC III manuals in portuguese and they are excelent. The fun thing is, here in Portugal, the company that sold the games shipped them with both the portuguese and the english manuals.

Armada and WC3 in Portuguese? Nice. Although I would find some of the terms employed very strange... Not that I'm not used to reading in Portguês de Portugal, especialy Sci-Fi stuff. I saw once a brazilian edition of WC3, but it was weird and expensive, and I already had the original.

There are manuals well translated to brazillian portuguese, it's just that Priv2 one is really horrendous.
