Electronic Arts released its year-end financial totals this week. Their 2008 fiscal year ended on March 31. The company's overall revenue for the year hit a record $3.67 billion, but the company ended with a net loss of $454 million due in part to how it measures income from online games. Twenty-seven games sold over a million companies, and fifteen of those sold more than two million. Console game sales accounted for the majority of income for the year. XBox 360, PS3, Wii and PC sales each accounted for roughly 10% of the business. The PS2 alone contributed 20% and combined DS, PSP and cellular games were approximately 15%. PC sales were down 28% compared to 2007 while modern console sales increased over 90%. Looking forward to 2009, EA expects overall revenue growth of more than $1 billion to approximately $5 billion total.

I don't even remember writing this update. I must have gotten home around 7 pm. I was exhausted and think I passed out somewhere for a couple hours. My irc log shows I woke up and sleep-talked to AD at some point around 10 pm. I must have been back asleep by 11 or 12. Somewhere in between this got done and published.

I recognize that picture - I had to go there to pick up a Simpsons Couch with our warehouse guy.

That place was pretty freaky - they had a bunch of PC's and consoles set up in the Lobby, like two dozen of them, showcasing all these EA games, and people (employees) were playing them. It was pretty weird. Like being at a college or something.
