As part of our ongoing mission to give you, our visitors, the best place to waste your vast amounts of free time discussing things that make you sound like comic store guy from The Simpsons, we're upgrading!

First up, we're getting a new server! This doesn't actually help Crius much except searching will probably be faster and stuff. We'll need to take Crius.net down to take a copy of the forum database and transfer it all over to the new server.

This downtime is currently scheduled to start somewhen between 5pm and 9pm GMT on Thursday 17 June

We can't guess at how long Crius.net will be down. All being well, it should be back a few hours after the downtime starts.

The second thing is we'll upgrade the forum at the same time as the server move. We'll be installing the fancy new vBulletin 3 Beta, full of amazing features which will make changing the color scheme to pink and the avatars to anime characters a whole lot easier! But since it's a beta, it probably won't work properly for a while.

We'll let you know exactly what the new features are when we figure out which ones we're going to let you have access to.

That's OK... having things screw up when you're making the forums pink just makes the effect even better
 
If we're getting new software, does that mean the threads will read the right way?
If I remember correctly, it was the software, not the settings, that determined that.

We're not gung-ho enough to run this place on alpha software.

I thought we were reading the threads the right way? I think VB3 still doesn't include a thread order user option though.
 
I didn't mean that, I meant for the whole board.
I know that new people have come here and just haven't got used to the backwards thread order and just left.
 
The thread order will change at random just to confuse people.

And how is it "About time", Bob? The freaking thing has only been on general public release for less than a week. We're not vBulletin guinea pigs so it wouldn't have been possible to upgrade any sooner.
 
If you want to confuse people make the color scheme *blink*. Maybe you'll get some pokemon effects.

Yeah, come to think of it, those places were run by an official vBulletin developer.
 
The search function won't work properly for the time being. We need to generate a search index when we have time.. it takes several hours to do.. and since it's now nearly midnight and I have work tomorrow, I'm leaving. Try not to break anything while I'm gone.
