I had the sudden urge to redo a sketch I used to do often when I was but a wee lad. I put it up over at deviantART for people to see. I know I'm no NinjaLA, but I don't recall seeing any hand-drawn stuff in the news for a while now. And yes, I know those aren't the Drakhri you see on the box...

Very cool! I recently came across some Wing Commander drawings I did years ago -- the Kilrathi ship VDU images, transcribed right from the screen onto graph paper (but apparently I thought the Hhriss was the 'Khriss').
 
its better than I would have made at any age younger than 17. Give yourself some credit.. that is nicely presented and a very dynamic 'pose'!

Great drawing. I still doodle incessantly, especially if I'm on a conference call or something. When my mind wanders, so does my hand. (That's not meant to be dirty.)

Sadly, my doodles don't stand a chance around here in such esteemed company. :(
 
Thank you for the compliments... although I am puzzled by Ninja's remarks given that I'm about to hit halfway between 27 and 28. :/

And yes, it was hard to work out how Hhriss was spelt, wasn't it?

I am wondering if it's worth using ink to go over the pencil lines, but I am worried about ruining the pieces. Also, I haven't had any colouring pencils or markers since primary school so the only alternative is digital colouring... although I have no idea how to do that in a time-effective way.
 
You misunderstand. I used to do that same sketch when I was young. I felt like doing it again just now.

So maybe I suck too. :(
 
oh, I see.

if it makes you feel better I'm almost 29, and I only started getting good at drawing in '03 or so :P

In '97 I made pretty stickmen
 
Well... okay.

That reminds me of a silly little project I did in 1995, using a notepad as a flip-book to make animated stick figures die in horrible but amusing ways. A bit like the ninja known as n, but not as interesting.
