CLoaking Mod for Prophecy...

Is there anyway this could be done in Prophecy has it been discussed before?

I beleive the standoff guys have looked into this extensively. There isn't a way to make cloaking ships with the prophecy engine, though I beleive they may have hacked a pseudo cloak into the engine for some of their story purposes. You would best ask them about it.

I know everybody wants X, Y and Z exciting megatech... but at the end of the day a human cloaking against an AI *just isn't fun*. There's no gameplay difference between a cloak and a pause button - it's just an option that makes the fun space battles stop for a minute.

This is different when you're playing against a human being - you can surprise them and throw off their strategy... but it doesn't happen against a computer. There's a reason WCIII has to *force* you to even use the thing in the place...

True, but flying against cloaking ships still is a fun game element, IMHO.

As for the technical feasibility of cloaking in the Vision engine, well we've done lots of research on that; basically, the cloaking code has been stripped out of the final compilations, probably remarked out. There are still leftovers of the original code in the objects properties and stuff like that, but it's unused by the game. Furthermore, HCl has done more thorough research on the graphic library (GL) code for the cloak's visual effect, witch would seem to have been completed only in the Glide GL, unfortunately.

As for Standoff, we did manage to make you fly against cloaking ships, using complex creative hacks :p Go play the loosing track, people ! ;)

Their names are Chuck Norris' left and right fist. His right defeated the Nephilim. Chuck is left handed.
