I never understood how the Tolwyn thing can be reconsiled. At mcalliuf he was a plebe, yet he commanded a grand fleet durning the Pilgrim wars, how does that work? And in Enyo he was only a captain in the sf i figure since he lead fighters. So he seems to jump around from being high to low to high again quite often.
 
You are correct -- the Confederation fought a brief war with the Yan circa 2300.

Tolwyn did not command the Second Grand Fleet -- he commanded *a* capital ship as part of it in late 2634/2635 -- this was his first capital ship command (according to the Handbook), presumably the one he was assigned to at the end of Action Stations.

Tolwyn didn't lead fighters at Enyo -- he planned the attack. He was a Line Captain.
 
Are there any sources about the Yan? Are they depicted too as a bunch of primitive bloodthirsty barbarians who have nothing better to do than shoot down transports carrying orphans? I guess it was once again Confed that was attacked and had no choice than defend themselves and their freedom.

I hope I sound not btter... :)
 
I think the Yan have only been mentioned in passing. No word on their orphan targeting though, in the 24th century i dont think there was to much space travel going on outside of Sol and the first couple of colonies so the chances of it being orphans alone are slim.

I just wanted to know if they were also shown as the pure evil, like the KIlrathi, and Confed the innocent victim.

But really, they didnt indicate whether they were truly evil or if it was a border dispute or anything like that, but it does make me think they attacked first.
 
Humans might fire first, but they'd never admit it. If only to gain the moral high ground. :)
