Black Lance Fighter?

Hmm interesting I saw a chart which showed the "Lance" as being in production or rather use in confed for a long time......So it almost seems like maybe Confed used the Lance in operations after the "Black Lance" situation....What a hideous fighter tho, but then again it did have Fission cannons. and "Almost" unlimited afterburn.

Well IIRC it was technically a confed fighter, ment as succesor to Excalibur, only Tolwyn got his hands over some prototypes as a commander of SRA, and gave them to Black Lance men. I am not sure of it, though.

Only objection I could think of for a dragon not being a good fighter was because it was freakin' huge, the damn thing is bigger then a broadsword! In a duel, she's vunerable, a piranha, rapier II, Sabre, or morningstar could possibly take her if she did not cloak.

If you manage to hit a ship with the fission cannons, the other pilot can not see you, or he would have te be really, really stupid.

There's nothing in the continuity to suggest this -- but there's nothing to refute it, either. All we know is that they were used by Tolwyn's Project in 2672-73. It's possible that the Confederation continued to fly them well after that... and it's possible they didn't.

The bad PR from being the fighter of choice of Tolwyn and friends could have very easily doomed it.

Plus, didn't the Border Worlds still have their hands on a couple of them? Although without replacement parts, who knows how long they could have kept them flying...

Yes, the UBW gained a squadron of them from the carrier they captured in the Speradon system (WC4N).

Doesn't necessarily address parts, but the same paragraph that explains their name also mentions maintenance:

"We cracked open a box of technical tapes," Pliers said, "that's what they call 'em. Black Lances. Callsign's usually Dragon." He spat a long dark stream into a can. He was apparently still unwilling to defile the Princeton's deck with tobacco juice. "They're easy to maintain, almost do it themselves, in fact." He grinned. "You should see the wiring harnesses on this baby. Brilliant. Absolutely brilliant."

Yes and he landed it right outside of the Senate/Capitol Building in DC.

Maybe it was the Capitol's slightly larger pink twin in Austin!

(I know, I know, you see the Washington Monument...)
