How do you set them I noted some guys have them and I found one I liked but cannot work out how to set it as my avatar
 
Mostly they're a reward for having over 2000 posts. Others have received them for notable contribution to the community and there have at times been a few given for special events.
 
Limiting avatars allows us to use the Confed rank symbols, which are really neat. All users can set an image within their internal profile.
 
yea did that well I think I did it right ~~~ was just wondering as I found a wing commander avatar and could not find how to put it up
 
I'd hate to lower it again. Start some Wing Commander topics and we'll do everything we can to keep good discussion going so y'all can get avatars.
 
OTOH, sometimes slow and steady wins the race. At the rate I post, I'd get one sometime in 2012 or so... no rush here!

Just takes a lot of patience, and the upshot is I get years to decide on what I want as my avatar.
