Audio file extraction

Can anybody here recommend a good wave editor program that can read and extract a variety of audio files including raw sound files, like the audio files in WC2?

In case you don't know already, GAP is also very handy for Privateer, WC4, WCP and WCSO.

And GAP is also extremely useful for extracting nearly every speech file from Strike Commander, if there are any Strike Commander fans out there. Be warned though, there are literally thousands of voc files present for the full speech Strike Commander version.
