BramCN/Julian have suggested the VDM Sound utility as a potential way to work out some sound card incompatibilites under the newest versions of Windows. The program simulates a DOS environment and emulates a Sound Blaster for your older games. This has the potential to clear up a wide variety of sound conflicts on modern systems.
