3D Printed Privateer ships.

A little appetizer for in between meals.
Greetings from the Helen Mining Base, Gemini-Sektor.
This is the original 3D model from the game, printed at a scale of 1:5.
Approx. 230 mm wide.
The antennas have been modified as they are too fine for the filament printer.
Colorfully painted by hand.

That's excellent!

How did that work out for you? I know the models aren't exactly optimized for printing (...or at all).

Trial and error.
I converted 3D data so that I could edit it with CAD programs.
For example, I added holes for connectors and/or for a stand.
Then I saved it as STL, loaded it into a slicer, and 3D printed it.
Post-processing of the print is the norm (sanding, etc.), then painted.
The end.

It is also possible to simply print parts without editing. However, the result is usually not as good.

The many test prints I made for my Tarsus now fill a large box. Sometimes you only see what can be improved when you actually assemble it.

Hello friends,
Does anyone know why the landing pad at the mine base has a yellow circle in the game but a square in the 3D archive files?
The landing pad at Pleasure Planet has a circle in the game and also in the archive.
Did I load the wrong file?

Great work 🔥🔥

I decided to build the mine landing platform first, instead of the repair and upgrade bay.
Almost all the parts have already been printed, and I'm currently busy painting them. I'm also scanning the scenery for my 3D printer. That's why I asked about the yellow markings.

The landing platform will consist of more than 10 parts and have a diameter of approx. 560 mm. The red fields will glow later on.

Looks incredible!

Next milestone reached.
The rusty bucket stands on its own legs.
Now further details are painted and added like a puzzle.

Another step forward.
The fuselage is completed except for 3-4 small parts. I'm currently adjusting and painting the pipes at the top and bottom. It's fiddly works to fit them in because of the crooked Angeles. The cockpit windows are already installed. After that, I can care of the add-on equipment (weapons, launchers, Radar, etc.).
