That's a lot of subcategories. True, it sound more appropriate considering they all work differently. I didn't even think of mines. That doesn't fit guns or missiles in the slightest.

A subcategory could work. There are quite a few weapons (particularly from WC3 and WC4) that do not fall into the category of either a missile or a torpedo. It would consolidate things a bit to include everything under missiles.
