Need DAT Tape Experts! (July 23, 2008)

This may be completely irrelevant, but could it be because some of our backups were done from the SGI's using Irix, rather than windows? They might be Irix (SGI's proprietary Unix format) configured - so they'd show something, but Windows Backup wouldn't know what it was....just a thought.

I am really intrigued to see what you guys come up with, especially in the WCIV - WCSO range...

    Making the Game - Part 69 (July 13, 2008)

Actually, I believe that's TWO early designs for the Devastator, one older than the other...

    Making the Game - Part 35 (June 9, 2008)

I can speak to that a bit. When we did WCIV we concentrated first on the cinematic ship models. We used a huge library of photos Chris Douglas took of real-world aircraft, ships, helicopters and such and cut them apart in Photoshop and reassembled them into custom, semi-photo-realistic textures...

    Making the Game - Part 24 (May 29, 2008)

Robert Foshko is Adam's father. Among other achievements he wrote the pilot for "Land of the Lost", and was a writer on the old King Features "Flash Gordon" comic strip and on The Man from UNCLE. A very neat guy.

We Need You! (April 23, 2008)

I also happen to have dat drive that I think will read that exabyte tape, though I might be wrong - I purchased it in an attempt to get data off my tape backup. I'd be happy to send it on to anyone who could make use of it...

We Need You! (April 23, 2008)

The middle one is an Exabyte digital tape. I actually have one of these laying around somewhere with some of my Wing IV stuff on it; I've tried a variety of ways of recovering it to no avail. To complicate things further most of the graphics done for Wing III, IV, and beyond were done on...

Come Back, Wing Commander (April 8, 2008)

Interesting that the author asserts that the property never "regained its footing" after EA bought Origin - Wing III and IV and Prophecy were all after the acquisition and I don't thing anyone would argue that none of those were up to the standards of the first two!

I {Bleep'd} At Chris Roberts And Did Not Get Fired (March 3, 2008)

I remember sitting in Adam Foshko's office looking at audition tapes - I recall that either Amanda Wyss (the girlfriend from Better Off Dead) or Jenny Wright (from Near Dark and The Wall) auditioned for the role. We got Ginger's tape and there wasn't a soul in that office didn't know who she...

Everything Ship Shape (December 22, 2007)

Yeah, the model had all kinds of moving parts and lights. The bay doors open up and down, the big dishes on the side of the tower swivel back and forth; there are running lights that strobe down the length of the landing bays...it really is quite an incredible piece of work.

Happy Birthday from J. Allen Brack (August 13, 2007)

Dooooouuuuughnuuuuuuuuuts! Capt. Johnny brought in doughnuts on Friday - I can't remember if it was every Friday or every other, but it was definitely Fridays. And he had a tendency to wander in a bit late (most likely because he'd been there 'til the wee wee hours the night before) so the...

    That Stings! (March 16, 2007)

Well, original original format was Alias PowerAnimator format, but I upconverted them to Maya Ascii format a few years back.

    That Stings! (March 16, 2007)

What kind of format does it prefer? I'm using PolyTrans to convert the original models, so I've got a laundry list of formats I can convert to...

    That Stings! (March 16, 2007)

I've got the Murphy, Midway, Shrike, Devastator, and Vindicator left to convert...did I already post the Shrike? Can't remember (getting old!). Some of the ships - Midway and Devastator in particular - have some texture funkiness I need to correct before I can post them. But soon. Soooooon.

WC Mod for ST: Bridge Commander upcoming!

Okay, here it is... http://download.wcnews.com/files/wcp/stingray.zip I mentioned this to Ben, but for everyone else: this is a straight conversion from the original NURBS model we used for WCP. Some of the original materials didn't convert properly, so if you want to get the thing all...

WC Mod for ST: Bridge Commander upcoming!

Well, this is the original cinematic-quality version we built for the game, along with all the original textures - it's pretty high-poly, so I don't know if you'd want to use it or not, but I can certainly make it available.
