About |
There are varying types of shields.
The McAuliffe shields were incredibly strong. They would block most of the 'pulse' from a nuclear blast, but possibly not the radiation as well. Any ship hitting the shield at high speed would be ripped to shreds. Anything going subsonic can pass them.
Capital ship shields or phase shields are generally strong and invulnerable to gunfire. However, on some ships, you can actually fly through the hull cavity if you make it past the turret fire. Once you're inside the hull, you can activate autoslide and fire sideways at will. Unprotected by shields, the hull is vulnerable to this type of attack. Torpedo computers are able to detect the frequency of phase shields in order to travel straight through them.
Fighter shields are far weaker, and can only withstand a relatively small amount of laser or munitions impacts. |
