I recently changed my password associated with my xbox live id on my computer. I turned on my xbox 360 expecting it not to be able to log in and having to update my password there too. Instead the xbox 360 appeared to log in fine. Does the X-box 360 not use a password to log into live? Is the password only used for account recovery?

You don't input the password like you do to log in to your Windows Live password on a computer. There's a password invisibly coded into your identity in your profile. I think you can make a controller-based password to protect that, but as long as you have the profile on the hard drive or the memory card, that is the minimum sufficient to get on Live.
