Wraith?

F4U Corsair

Spaceman
Um... I think a mistake was made in the ship database, being a big fan of WC2, I dont remember seeing the Wraith at all during play. If you were flying a ferret, Crossbow, morningstar, or one of the fighters from the Concordias bays, you werent flying. Am I wrong, cause I dont think I saw em...

The Wraith (and the Jrathek) are exclusive to Wing Commander Academy, a mission builder type game based on WC2.

Question about the Armada database, why do I feel that the ships' specs seem to be a bit higher than the usual. Like an Arrow having a max cruise velocity of 795 kps and an afterburner of 2095...

Is it because of their special 'Spec Ops' design, or is it just an unthought design change to the game dynamics?

You notice that the Armada Arrow also has only 2 lasers and 2 missiles, with WC2 level shields/armor?

Armada specs were kinda crazy, but the strangely fitted with the rest if you consider that the fastest ships were a lot weaker, like the example Death made above.

Hi, has anybody been fighting a jrathek in WC2? (or special operations). Those fighters ROCK, What a pity they are so scarce. (I sincerely hope the stripped down storyless WCA is not the only thing housing those marvels), From what I heard, the wraiths make a comeback later in the games.

Or else, why not use jratheks in standoff episodes?

As was mentioned earlier in the thread, the Wraith and Jrathek don't appear in WC2 or the Special Operations. They were the new fighters created for Academy when it came out.

Both fighters appear in Wing Commander Armada, too, though.

As far as I know, most of the ships featured in Armada were created for Special Ops purposes, much like the way the fighters in SecretOps are more tweaked compared to Prophecy.

I simply wonder, how could three Arrows hold themselves against (at least) two Dralthis and a carrier ship?

And why is the Shok'lar never mentioned anywhere again, except in Standoff episode 2?

Small bit of clarification... the Kilrathi fighters used by the Church of Man terrorist organization... were they Salthi's or Shok'lars?

The Kilrathi ships used by the CoM were Salthis. Armada recycled the Salthi model from SWC, like they did with the SWC Tiger's Claw and several other ship models.

(In the game code for RF, they're identified as "salthi-type" or somesuch, IIRC.)

I'd certainly be interested to know how 'far' you know that -- since it's not something I've ever heard.

hmm, I could be completely wrong here. As I see it, it woudn't be hard to consider the fighters in Armada to be designed or modified to Spec Ops specifications; I mean, as I understand it, the Lexington CVN is built to be completely self sufficient and to require little in the way of escort or support (I suppose the same goes for the Snakier II) so that they can jump deep behind enemy lines and carry out the mission type that dominates Armada. Specifically, you are trying to destroy the enemy's homeworld. It seems plausible to me that some of those ships wouldn't appear in other areas of the WC universe; heck, even the idea of destroying a planet with those carriers seems to be confined to Armada, though the general idea of striking behind enemy lines is definitely a recurring theme elsewhere. (And of course, I was quite young then; how did you destroy the enemy's planet? Was it based on the idea that through the efforts of your carrier, you gave your side the advantage in the war and the end result is the destruction of the enemy's home world? I know how Kilrah is destroyed in WC3 and the novels...but I can't remember how Armada was explained...)

Just an attempt to better understand Armada on my part, I suppose. I encourage others to make corrections and help me gain a better understanding of this part of the WC timeline.

I think you are referring to the shiraak class carrier (kilrathi).
I haven't tacled those in combat yet.
Is it true armada is THAT difficult?
I can't know since I have a few problems into running it right now (EMS memory).
