Well, in a sense the Academy animated series was about blair's early years in the academy, BUT they left the academy early for 'field training' or somesuch, AND it wasn't to respectful of the whole series' timeline (like Jazz dieing at the end of the series, BEFORE WC2 HAPPENS)

The piilot killed at the end of Academy isn't Jazz Colson - his callsign is "Jazzman".
I've always liked the idea that the Wildcat and the Hellcat look similar - like the F4F Wildcat and F6F Hellcat of World War II.
