wing commander freedom force

Are you looking for a description of Freedom Flight (the novel) or Shadow Force (the cancelled game)? I'm sure we can provide either!

Freedom Flight was the first Wing Commander novel, and it's especially interesting because it was co-authored by Ellen Guon, who was a writer on the games at that time. So it gets the 'feel' of Wing Commander circa 1991 just right! The story itself is half an adaptation of Secret Missions 2 from the point of view of Hunter. He visits Firekka, helps defend Hobbes when he defects and battles the Kilrathi as they take over the system. During the fight to save Hobbes' Fralthi, Hunter lands on the cruiser and is rewarded with a Kilrathi servant named Kirha. Later, it's revealed that the Kilrathi have taken Firekkan leaders prisoner during their retreat... and so an all-star team of Paladin, Hunter, a Firekkan pilot and the Kilrathi servant sneak behind enemy lines in the Bonnie Heather and free them. It's not a complex story, but there's lots of fun character work and little details about the Wing Commander universe.

Shadow Force was supposed to be a co-op based game developed after Wing Commander Secret Ops, where you'd be part of a sort of 'Dirty Dozen' style team sent on secret missions to battle the aliens from Prophecy. They did a lot of prepro (concept art, design docs, etc.) but never went too far with it.
