I'm working on a computational fluid dynamics training project at work. I want to try simulating some of the supposedly atmospheric capable WC fighters (i.e. Rapier II, Sabre, Excalibur, Hellcat V, etc), and see how air would actually flow around them.
(OK, not that interesting, but it's better than re-reading the Fluent manuals 10 times and calling it training)
Anyway, I need some models to work with. I went to the Wing Commander 3D website and downloaded some of the models in .3Ds format. However, those models only contain the wireframe outline of the ship. I was wondering, would someone with more knowledge of 3D modeling than me be willing to export a ship model that includes not only wireframe, but also the surfaces? IGES format would be ideal. Is that possible? Again, I'm not sure, my expertise is in meshing things for simulation, not in CAD.
