Win2K Problems

Hello there. First I want to thank you for the great job you have done with this game Ive been looking for something like this for years :).

Unfortunatly I have quite some problems running it properly. I have done all the things that are suggested in the FAQ for Win2K users.

What I constantly get are Mutex error messages which leads to a CTD. Any advice of what I could do to get around that problem? It realy keeps up occuring making it virtually impossible to play for longer than a few minutes into every mission (took me several trys to finish mission one but I guess mission 2 is just impossible before it crashes my system).
 
I was responsible for most of the steps in the Win2k guide, and even then there were random crashes on my box. I never figured out a way to completely eliminate them, only decrease their frequency.

I haven't used Windows 2000 SP4 in a while, though, so I really can't offer much more help on the subject anymore.
