Who's your favorite non-pilot characters?

The E channel did a special on her. It was interesting, the trials and tribulations of a wannabe actress who had to resort to porn. Practically the story of my life, except I wasn't in Wing Commander. ( I wish)

I'm upset I missed Hamill's A&E special back in May.

I'm from the UK, and in the 90s, there was a computer games program on ITV (people from the UK will know this channel) called Bad Influence (you can find out about it at http://www.badinfluence.fsnet.co.uk/). Well on one of the "episodes" they went behind the scenes on Wing Commander III. it was pretty cool

It'll be back on eventually. Can't you order those A&E specials to VHS?

Wow, 40?! She's still hot. And whoever disagrees, good for you, better for me. Less competition, hehe.

You go right ahead and compete for her all you want.
Meanwhile, I'll go look for someone who's actually attractive.

Does anyone know if the newly released game channel G4TV has does something on the history of the WC universe yet as I know they have a show that tells the history of influential games and their creators. (also they play a game show called Starcade that was 1983 I'm wondering If anyone saw these shows back in 1983. I was just born that year so I didn't see it till this year but for some reason I like it.)

I think I saw Starcade, just a bit, on a tv show with a Dragon's Lair DVD review called: "Dragon’s Lair 20th Anniversary Box Set". A game you play in your DVD player with your remote (yes like a tv remote). Anyway, they put the entire episode of Starcade with the Drangon's Lair competition on the DVD. Check it out at: http://www.digitalleisure.com/index.html

Mine would be Angel (since she doesn't really fly after the first game, and Yolanda Jilot simply rocks) and Dekker. And I have become a big fan of Malcom McDowell after playing the games and seeing his portrayal of Tolwyn. He balences the character just right I feel, after reading the novel and seeing Tolwyn taken several sinister steps further.

The only guy I could see play Tolwynn other Than Malcolm Mcdowell would Be Donald Sutherland But Mcdowell was the perfect man for the job. (Sutherland played a very similar role as the Tolwynn character in the movie outbreak. Which has been on FX alot lately.)

I saw that movie. army general developing new strand of ebloa. that sounds familier for some reason. wait, I got it. confed admiral forms elite unit and develops gen-select bioweapon. why does hollywood have to steal their ideas from WC?

Well we talked about this a little bit before on one of the other threads and I think that imatating something is the best form of flatery as long as there not trying to make fun of it as the movie was trying to be serious so it wasn't making fun of it but praising it in a way. (though it is a blantant ripoff of a idea or at least very similar to the wc4 story adapted to are current time.) (hey its on right now in my area I'm watching it as I type.) (The endings between the two have some very similar feeling as well. like dustin hoffman's character trying to tell them they found the cure and not to go through nuking fellow americans to keep hidden the fact they have been illegally this virus. Blair trying to stop tolwynn from getting war declared on the border worlds and proving he was using the phantom squadron with bio weapons illegally to start a war between the two.) I love the movie cause it seems like it took inspiration from WC4.

There are obviously similarities... but the plot of Wing Commander 4 wasn't really very unique...

The thought of a man who turns against his country to better it is really rather common... Things like Dr. Strangelove or how I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb come to mind. The heroic underdog trying to stop a conflict/doomsday is also a recurring theme... first pop-culture references that comes to mind are Tom Clancy's books and movies (eg. The Hunt for Red October)

It also sounds like there are shreds of The Andromeda Strain where they come up with the solution right before a nuke is going to explode. I haven't actually seen the movie, so I can't be very specific... I'm just working off what I know. Does the movie have Space Nazis? It can't be a proper rip-off of WC4 without Space Nazis.
