What path is the most book-accurate?

Hi, I was wondering what the "closest to the events in Fleet Action" path is, and if there is a guide to playing the game most 'accurately'?

Well I belive going through loosing path in both Ep3 and Ep4 keeps you away from where you can interfere in book events. And of course You'll need a mid-win ending.

In order to follow the events of FA you'd have to play Ep3 winning, Ep4 winning, then somehow play Ep5 winning and losing :p That will at least have you go through the events chronicled in FA.

There isn't a guide that does what you are looking for, however I am in the process of creating a playtester's guide that will provide an outline of the games paths.

What Dund said - the losing paths in Ep3 and Ep4 will take you away from the battles that the book follows, but in Ep5 both the winning and losing paths stick fairly close to Fleet Action. So you'd have to play Ep3 winning, Ep4 winning, both Ep5's, and get the middle ending. :p

Well, I meant "what achieves the overall results that were in the book?"

And what is the, uh, winningest way to get the "losing" episode 5 path? And what is the most safe way to get the middle ending? I was looking for specific mission advice...

The safest way to get middle ending is going through ep5 loosing, as you essentialy can't get win-win, doing your best just gets you to the middle ending.

To get to Ep5 loosing you have to either loose Leytte Gulf in Ep4 winning series, in the mission before last (the one where you are searching for her, not the one where you are escorting her and Firekka to the Concordia), or in Ep4 losing you have to fail to bring down the Fraltha in the mission where you have just one wing of Sabers. If you didn't complete it yet, I strongly reccomend Ep4 loosing, as you don't have to watch another confed carrier burn to loose it.

I think that if you stay out of the book events (ep3 loosing, ep4 loosing) the game assumes that the events unfolded as in Fleet Action. Also, Ep5 Loosing doesn't let you to mess with the final standings of the fleets (you can neither save any extra confed ship, or destroy any extra cat carrier)

I'm going from memory here...so others please correct me if I forget something here....

You need to complete Ep3 winning (the Verdun is lost in the book, so saving the crew doesn't really influence the story from the book's point of view)

In Ep4 Winning, you need to damage but not destroy the Hakaga. In the book it retires with 2 carriers as escorts and it does the same in Standoff. Now you come to a crossroads...both Ep5 Winning and Losing follow the book...it all depends whether you want to follow Confed's or the Landreichers' path. To follow Confed, save the Leyte Gulf, for the Landreich, let it die.

In Ep5 Winning, you need to lose the Saratoga, safely escort the Marines in, not shoot down Thrakhath and not damage the Hakaga (IIRC in FA the final one is not attacked by Confed?).

In Ep5 Losing, you need to escort the Tarawa and Guadalcanal to Sol, destroy the bombers however the AM missiles need to reach the Moon (in FA the dry docks and facilities on the Moon are destroyed), in the final mission the AM missiles need to reach Earth while the Strotnium-90 warheads must be stopped.

You need to complete Ep3 winning (the Verdun is lost in the book, so saving the crew doesn't really influence the story from the book's point of view)

Just in case, Verdun gets destroyed in Sirius along with Moskva(in the FA). To follow the original plot strictly, she has to be saved in Warsaw.

She can't be saved in Standoff. You either get the crew off or they die onboard.

Dund, you're talking about the Moskva, in Episode 4. You can save the Verdun in Episode 3 (in fact, it's required if you want to stay on the winning path).

Of course, saving the Verdun doesn't mean she survives - you never hear about the ship again one way or the other.

Ahh yes...I got my carriers confused...

So if one is playing the losing paths of EP3 and EP4, then the best they can get is the middle ending? (Which i'm not complaining about - the losing paths are more fun IMO)

Not necessarily - you can get back onto the winning path at the end of Episodes 3 and 4. But then again, since the losing path in Episode 5 is the most fun of all, would you really want to? :p
