anyone know if the old FS2 copy that was publicly available (before the something edition came out recently) is still around somewhere? i went to where i downloaded it last time (under dogs) and its no longer there (due to the game being re-released and what not).

Are you kidding! Of COURSE it's an April Fools joke! Did you hear the awesome Voices!? Did you see the amazing ship that blows you out the water when it jumps in!? Did you see a Vesuvius go down in a blaze of glory!?
...Still, I DID get to fly an Arrow and a Hubcat, too bad the weapons weren't yet implemented. And it WAS pretty funny

O.K. now, the gag is over. Of course this demo was an aprils fool joke.
Actually we did use some of our oldest stuff, and after playing mission 3
there was certainly no doubt of this downloads purpose.
I'm afraid you will have to wait again, until our mod is ready, maybe
a real demo a few month's earlier (must have a serious talk with the other
guys about this).
However, looks like some people even liked this one. That is a little strange
to me, but maybe this is just because I know the real stuff.
When the mod will be released, I'm sure you will not be able to shut your
mouth a few days (of course because you are amazed, and not because you
are angry shouting through the neighboorhood).
We are currently making uge progresses, so stay tuned for more updates.
I also want to thank you for your patience. We know it is taking long, but it will be
well worth it (every time we got something finished, someone makes an even
better thing, that's why it takes so long )

[face red ] Well, the models sure are nice, and I did enjoy it. That still isn't any excuse for getting fooled though. Must...get...Wing...Commander...FIX...
I figured you guys just wanted to show off the models. In any case, it is a pain to hit unshielded anything in FS or FS2. Looks like Psych's commentary on the Dralthi in Fleet Tactics was dead on: the reduced wing size makes them considerably harder to hit. In this engine at least. I've seen dead misses in SO create an instant kill (I like DF missiles, don't you?).
Yeah, it is a little hard to hit a dralthi when you fly at his tail.,
But I kinda like that (it is realistic, don't you think so ?). Easiest way
to hit the dralthi is when he try to curve, and you follow his movements.
That way you can hit it (using the targeting forhold) on its larger upper
or under side.

Heh. I assume the full version includes a modified main executable, to take advantage of the changes to the engine?
