WCS: Battlegroup Serpent Update

Tolwyn

Vice Admiral
Progress continues steady. Today I've uploaded seven new screenshots, showing off new masterpieces did by haderak and, well, myself :). As you see haderak has integrated the TCS Behemoth, new Dragon, the new Ranger, the Vesuvius and the Concordia class carriers. I've also did new briefing icons. Well, the interface is almost complete: still there is some of work to do; several shield anis, weapons selection screens and ship icons are missing. Additionally, I still have to create several menu backgrounds. Stay turned, we have some great news to announce soon :)

As always, feedback is welcome.

Oh, just to mention, the first mission for the demo is now in the beta phase. There is one screenshot attached. It shows one of your wingmen escorting the TSC Aurora :)

More screens here.

looking nice, good work there

"You have to escort the freighter cos that what Confed tells you to do!" :p

Stow it Lieutenant! For you information, this is a TRAINING mission, not a seek and destroy mission. This is not a waste of time either.... :D

besides, the Caernaven model you see is obsolete. This means that we have already a better model (better textures, additional details) that will be released soon. I'll keep you informed. Tolwyn out.

For a first mission escort/milk run type mission, I tried to making it as exciting as possible!

You may all drool now!

BTW: The second mission is well on the way and is shaping up very nicely!

that's right. We still have to clear several issues though, but the second mission is in the pipeline. Besides, we are also working on the Behemoth mission from WC3 :D
Oh, there are several new screenies available. Check them out here

Actually, soldiers are not allowed to even *question* orders. So saying "why do we have to escort this sir?" is totally out of line.

Actually, I would imagine that, in a non-critical, non-combat situation, it wouldn't be out of line for soldiers to do a bit of whining. It's not like they're talking treason or anything. On the other hand, the "Stow it, Lieutenant!" response seems kinda extreme to me (unless the Lieutenant has been whining for hours and hours about it already ;)).

Just ask any soldier what would happen them if they said "why?" to an order...

I would have said something like "Can it Lieutenant-- Your job as a soldier is to carry orders out without question"

or just "Because I said so!"

Maybe. I've never been in the military, so I won't bother disagreeing. I will say this, though - it doesn't matter. The military is about doing a job. A computer game is about entertainment. They're different (ok, I guess that's obvious ;)). That's why soldiers in games will always be more talkative than in real life. That's why astronauts in the Apollo 13 movie were freaking out most of the time and such. It's simply more entertaining.

Hmm, I understand the use of the example, but I don't think the Apollo program was a military operation.

Yeah. Do you think logic and factual reality will make much difference?
