WCPedia: Summer Projects

Yeah I don't think anybody has ever done a tree for SM1.5

Madman, if you could put one together based on the data you've got that would be great.

Shades sent me his files for SM1/2 so they should greatly increase upload times. Granted, we are still going to need to double check my uploading work to make sure things are in the right places and are accurately represented.

In regards for the alternate text, I suck with this Wiki formating crap. If it wasn't for you guys all the pages would look like shit. So I've got another question to ask the crowd...Shades did a great job of organizing the text in the files he sent me. I'd like to do something similar on WCPedia, but I'm not sure how to do it without ruining the layout that's already been created.

I also like the way Shades separated certain scenes. Having a "Funerals" and "Halcyon's Office" articles that would show all the different possible conversations at those points would organize them well and not overload mission entries with unnecessary text.

Yes Wedge does have have SM1/2 up there. I usually checked the winning path of my scripts with his site. It saves a lot of time for me. Thanks you soooo much Wedge.

However it has been a few years since I messed with that so I don't remember how far I got. It wouldn't hurt to double check.

I'm using Wedge's site, some files LOAF sent me, the files you sent me along with the original script files.

I started SM1 just a bit. Only one mission has text. I created a few more entries but they need to be filled in.

He sent me some files similar to you for SM1/2. They are script flowcharts at various levels of detail.

He sent me scripts extracted from the game. So similar to what you sent me in that regard.

I'm sure I've already mentioned the Secret Missions flow chart in the Joan's Supplement before. Granted, it's not an Origin publication, but still a useful starting point.

I can't help with Secret Missions '1.5', though.

huh, thought i'd replied yesterday! - anyway, to the best of my knowlege loafs script is correct - not checked it all yet will do as i make up the missions pages - just doing mission 1 now!

sm1.5 has no branching whatsoever - more bizarrely, swc doesnt seem to include the losing missions - you can fail sm1 and enter retreat but once there, you just continue straight to sm1.5 (amusing since it kind of defeats the point!)

mission 1 of sm1.5 should be up presently so you can tell me if i've done anything too horrific in typing it up!

i had real difficulty in making categories - probably my fault - but basically that mission probably should belong in a seperate category - the first series consists of 2 missions - mission one in border zone -enroute to the tartarus system, and the second in tartarus.

Ninja is using the Joan's Supplement to do SM1/2. He'll need a basic tree for SM1.5.

Shades, files are on their way.

Madman, mark what you need removed and Wedge or I will get to it. If you want you can upload a basic flowchart with mission names and systems and I can create the framework for you if that will help.

okay, so there's four pages in the secret missions 1.5 folder called delete - they need to go :)

the tree for sm 1.5 basically goes:
Series 1
Border Zone (enroute to Tartarus System)
Alpha strike - Fly Rapier with Hunter
Tartarus System
Sigma defend - Fly Rapier Alone

Cairo System
Epsilon escort - Fly Rapier with Maniac
Sigma patrol - Fly Dralthi Alone
Omega patrol - Fly Rapier with Maniac

Anchorage System
Sigma patrol - Fly Dralthi Alone
Alpha escort - Fly Raptor with Doomsday
Gamma defend - Fly Raptor with Doomsday

Jakarta System
Sigma rendezvous - Fly Dralthi Alone
Iota strike - Fly Raptor with Jazz
Xi strike - Fly Raptor with Jazz
Delta strike - Fly Raptor with Iceman

I've made all the pages now along with the categories - just had difficulty with making the categories and ended up making pages for them instead - i worked out a way of doing it (i assume it's the right way!) so thats okay.

If you are trying to display the flow-charts as they are I was thinking that I could save the scripts as html files maybe that will let you copy and past. But I don't think it can be text only box.

As soon as I can log in I can try a few things. KrisV may have fixed it but I have to wait 24hrs before it will send me a password again.

I'm sure we can do it in the table format, the only problem is the need to redo all existing mission articles, although it would mostly be copy and pasting into the new layout for convos.

Madman, SM1.5 is good to go for you.

Wedge, thanks for adding those SM1 nav maps.

I posted an update to the note in the Missions category talk page.

We do need to think about how to handle those duplicate systems and finalize mission article layout.

Thanks for deleting those pages - re your note, another good case is border zone - which appears in both sm1 and 1.5, at present it's listed as "border zone" in sm1 and "border zone system" in 1.5 since it's a system (and i presume the same one in both cases) it may be worth examining making a "border zone system (sm1)" if thats the line you want to go down

the other thing is, sm1.5 doesnt give times or dates - do i just leave them out or do we try and fit them in? there is (at least according to wedge's script) nearly 40 days in between.

In regards to BZ, I created my entry using the USG text. It simply calls it Border Zone, but is clearly referring to the system.

Alpha Wing (Border Zone System) (SM1)
Bravo Wing (Border Zone System) (SM1.5)

I think the above examples should work fine. We just need to move the pages which will take a few minutes.

As for the dates, I'd leave them blank for now. If we can at some future time pin down the dates then sure we can add them, but otherwise I'd rather not just guess.

I figured that leaving the dates blank was the best way - just now all the speech is in the missions - 4 of the nav maps are missing and i need to check through for spelling and also to make sure it is identical to ingame (ie read while listening to the ingame speech) since i used loaf's script to whip it up.

i also need to add in the mission layouts for most of them - but thats less time consuming!

in sm1.5 it's similarly referred to as "border zone" but it is a jump link to tartarus - hence my assumption. what does USG stand for?

i can move the mission to "Alpha Wing (Border Zone System) (SM1.5)" if you want, do i also need to move the category? if yes then i'll move the one in sm1 as well :)

another note is that loaf uses the defection of ralgha - the date of which is given as 2655.271 in the ks calendar to dictate the date of sm1.5 - which means it falls slap bang in the middle of sm2. I think we need to clear up whether "khantar" ralgha nar Hhallas is the same as "colonel" ralgha seem in sm1.5.

and finally - neither anchorage nor jakarta appear in the star system list - i cant find them near along cairo jump points either - are they even on the universe map?

my apologies for the double post - but heres another little amusement - the ultimate strategy guide for 1 and 2 describes 3 missions in bifrost - secrets correctly shows 2, as do the games - lost mission perhaps?

also i just managed to get a bronze star for ejecting in valgard 3! swc doesnt seem to get medals right all the time - theres one sm1.5 where you get a silver star for scoring a spectacular number of medal points - the mission contains 330, of which 80 are for killing the 8 dralthi attacking the claw - i won the medal, despite losing doomsday, with just one dralthi kill - which makes 9 medal points!
it's possible that swc doesnt count losing a wingman as a -1 medal point, since if you eject you get nothing so there must be a limit of at least 1. still its worth examining all the medal missions in swc to check the limits are the same (i have got the medal caps for sm1.5 - spent ages working it out!)

Took care of the moving articles and categories for SM1 and SM1.5 and deleted empty pages.

Great work uploading that stuff! The majority of wingnuts have never been able to read through SM1.5 so it should be a real treat for many.

I'm also thinking it's going to make more sense to just make SWC its own mission category because otherwise the WC1 mission articles are going to get too bloated.

Don't treat my dates as canonical. They're only loosely based around a time-line LOAF drafted many years ago. Super Wing Commander included in that list.

Yeah I haven't been. I've been using them as fillers in the WC1 articles.

LOAF, do you have a more recent timeline with dates for those missions?

It's only 10 days to the birthday. Let's make a final push here and get up as much as possible!

Ninja, so SM1.5 is an easy image for you to create. Just a straight shot.

Madman, what happens if you fail a mission? Do you automatically lose the game or are there any "losing" missions like in SM1?

the tree for sm 1.5 basically goes:

Border Zone System

Tartarus System

Cairo System

Anchorage System

Jakarta System
