WC2 Speech Pack

howdy, I was wondering if i could download the speech pack for WC2 from somewhere cuz I realized that it wasnt my sound card not working properly, it was that i dont have the speech pack. so is this legal or am I sol?
 
In any case, it's nowhere near on par with Grim Fandango. "Affirmative sirrr" *Shudder*
Don't hit yourself for missing out on it - you didn't get much voiced anyway, as far as I can remember. (WC2 Deluxe)

Indeed. I'll never forget the first time I heard "You cannot defeat the Drakhai!"...followed almost immediately most times by "Nnnnoooooooooooo....*static*"

But the "You cannot defeat the Drakhai" was really cool too.
 
You need to right-click and "Save As..." They've actually been there for quite some time. At least a year, I would say, if not more. [Apparently since October 2002]

If you want, I can take the uncompressed files and send them to you when I get home. They'd be a few MBs, though.

If people thought the voices in WC2 were bad, they should listen to the demo. :)

My brother and I still joke about the time I defeated Thrakhath with the "Finger of Death": "Prince Thrakhath challenges you!" <BOOM>. Then we add: "...in an ejection pod!" :D
 
D'oh, thanks! I really should have learned that trick by now but it seems, I've been absent too long from the net.
I visited your site before (because it's cool!) and never found those links, I am really blind sometimes.

Anyway, cool, cool, cool. And yes, the demo is quite bad. :)

I downloaded the files now, so I don't think the uncompressed files are necessary (or are they that different in quality?) but thanks for the offer.

Edit: You fingered of death the Slave master of Terra? How disrespectful of you (and your brother)! ;)
 
Eh, we were only playing around, not playing seriously.

The uncompressed WAVs of all the speech in WC2 + SO1/2 comes out to around 11MB. A bit big, and there's not much difference from the MP3s anyway, since it's low-quality speech.
 
Yeah, that's clear. Makes it even more disrespectful! ;)

Besides, with the demo, again which is really urgh, I have problems to understand what title the Emperor accorded to Thrakhath: "Slave Lord of Terra" or "Slave Lord of Terror"? I chose the first one because it makes more sense (in a way) but I am not entirely sure.

Don't bother sending me those uncompressed files, the MP3 already made me happy. But thanks again for the offer.
 
I think it's Slave Lord of Terra. I recall LOAF pointing out that it's the only mention of Thrakhath's unusual title.
 
It sounds like Thrakhath has all kinds of crazy noble titles... a WCA speech mentions a few (Heir to Kilrah, Destroyer of Worlds, Fang of Sivar, etc.)
 
But these might be merited to a certain degree, certainly is Heir to Kilrah (even though his father is still alive, in the end), Fang of Sivar might be some kind of honour title a Crown Prince (or his son) carries and destroyers of worlds- ok, if Thrakhath has already destroyed so many worlds in 2654, I don't know but at least he will.
Whereas "Slave Lord of Terra" is a bit hasty. :)
