WC II...really hard.

My first WC2 playthrough in years, and I forgot just how solid it is.

I'm up to K'Tithr'ak Mang (A) -- any tips for dealing with the Drakhai Jalkehis?

I forgot how useless Jazz can be on that mission :(

I would try the following:
- Pull back a bit from that Ralatha (or simply stop and let the fighters come to you) to create more room for dogfighting.
- Telling Jazz to break and attack only when the Jalkehis are practically on top of you two.

Having said that, I always ended up with Jazz ejecting and having to defend the Concordia by myself afterwards.

Thanks! I've been trying this mission on and off for 24 hours now, I don't recall it being this tough, especially since during my WC1 replay I completed the Kurasawa escort first time! Your tip about getting away from the destroyer really helps, I'm taking a time out and I'm going to give it a try again later.

The Sabre's rear gun seems more useful than I ever remember it being.

Taking a break often helps, especially if your previous play session was long enough for WC2's dynamic difficulty level to creep up to maximum level.

I didn't even realise WC2 had such a difficulty feature, but the more I think about it, every time I've given a tough mission a break for a few days it's been easier when I've come back.

I'm back up to SO1 now, and suddenly WC2 seems easy... :p Not looking forward to Ayer's rock in SO2...

You can manage the AI difficulty, maybe not that much fun, but...
Alt-i Increase enemy AI level
Ctrl-i Decrease enemy AI level

Wow, really? It's been fifteen years since I first played WC2, and I never knew this!

Ah, I see. So, that's a debug feature - it will only work if you run the game with the 'Origin -k' commandline parameters.

I do remember people from Origin explaining (in a chat transcript - it's probably downloadable from the CIC somewhere) that WC2's AI adjusts its difficulty level towards the player. The better you play, the tougher it gets, and vice-versa. But I always wondered if that was a real feature or not, because I simply never noticed any significant impact on the game difficulty.

It "learns" as you play, appearantly, this system is not unique though, Mortal Kombat had something similar. And increasing AI does not always mean they will be tougher opponents to gun down though. Not sure if the origin parameter is required(just like with the frameskip).

It just takes a long time for the difficulty to come down. I once tried doing this and have to die at least ~50 times, firing without hitting anything.
