I've started modeling another Fralthi, using the above picture as a reference. I'm humbled, or more like shattered to some degree because I'm so far off in my model to how others interpreted the Fralthi.
I'm starting my model by tackeling what I believe to be the hardest part to model.
I do not think that I've done a good job just yet, but I'm close. If you think you have a better solution please don't hesitate to share.

Cool!!! I've found it's very hard to make complex shapes in any 3d program no matter what shape it is. I've tried to the best of my own abilities to use shapes that other people have created and go from there. Granted different fighters and ships have different engines and guns, usually I would get an idea from something else, and use certain parts of the model and create my own parts to complete the model. It's definately harder than *&$#@#!@!$^!!! So I can feel your pain Michelle
