Wing Commander CIC

Hey guys. I've always been curious... What do you do when you come across the "Unknown ship" in Privateer 2? Its just a floating Talon from Privateer 1. But is it there just for kicks or is there something you can unlock in the game with that Talon? WHAT IS ITS PURPOSE IN THE GAME!!?!?!?! AHHHH
